Joshua chapter 4 verse 14 comes after one of the greatest miracles in Israel’s history: the crossing of the River Jordan on dry ground. Under Joshua’s leadership, the people stepped into the river by faith, and God stopped the waters.

This miracle was not only about crossing a river. It was also about confirming Joshua as God’s chosen leader after Moses.

Many people may have wondered: Can Joshua really lead us like Moses did? Is God truly with him? Through this miracle, God answered all these questions. The Bible says, “The Lord magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel.”

God Himself lifted Joshua. Joshua did not campaign for leadership. He did not force people to respect him. He did not manipulate his way into influence.

God promoted him. Psalm 75 verses 6 to 7 says: "For promotion comes neither from the east, nor from the west… But God is the Judge: He puts down one, and sets up another." In today’s world, many people struggle for recognition. They chase titles, validation, and approval. Some compromise their values just to be noticed.

Joshua teaches us a different way:

If God lifts you, no one can pull you down.

When God promotes you, it lasts. Before Joshua was magnified, he was faithful.

He was faithful as: Moses’ assistant, and he was faithful as a spy. Joshua did not become great overnight. He walked with God for years before public recognition came. The book of Luke chapter 16 verse 10 says: "He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much."

In today’s world, many want success without preparation. They want visibility without character. They want influence without integrity. This Bible study reminds us that God lifts those who are faithful in private before honoring them in public.

Joshua did not make himself a leader. God called him. When God calls someone, He also confirms them. Romans chapter 8 verse 30 says: "Whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified."

If God has called you to a purpose, whether in ministry, business, leadership, family, or service. He will confirm you in His time.

You don’t need to fight for acceptance when God has approved you. Through the Jordan miracle, God showed Israel, “This is My servant. Listen to him.” You don’t need to fight for acceptance when God has approved you.

The Bible says Israel respected Joshua as they respected Moses.

Why?

Not because Joshua was perfect.

Not because he was popular.

But because God was with him.

When God is with you:

Your words carry weight.

Your actions inspire trust.

Your life attracts favor.

Joshua waited many years before this moment. He was over 80 years old when he began leading Israel. This is encouragement for anyone who feels overlooked, ignored, or forgotten. Maybe you have been serving quietly, God sees you. Your season will come. The book of Isaiah chapter 60 verse 22 says: "A little one shall become a thousand… I the Lord will hasten it in its time." When it is God’s time, nothing can delay it.

Let us pray:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being the God who sees our faithfulness and rewards obedience.
Teach us to trust You with our journey. Help us not to seek approval from people, but to seek Your presence above all else.
Give us hearts like Joshua—humble, faithful, and obedient. Prepare us in secret before You lift us in public.
When You promote us, help us to remain humble. When You bless us, help us to glorify You.
May our lives reflect Your power, Your wisdom, and Your grace.
We surrender our future to You.
Magnify Yourself through us.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
