Remembering God’s works and passing them on to genarations is very important and we will learn why in this Bible study.

After God miraculously stopped the River Jordan and allowed the children of Israel to cross on dry ground, He gave Joshua a special instruction. He told him to select twelve men one from each tribe to take twelve stones from the middle of the river and place them at their camp.

These stones were not decoration. They were a memorial.

God said that in the future, when children would ask, “What do these stones mean?” their parents should tell them how God brought Israel across the Jordan on dry ground.

This shows that God is not only interested in performing miracles. He is also interested in making sure His people never forget them. The book of Psalm chapter 103 verse 2 says, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.”

Today, many people remember God only in hard times. When life becomes comfortable, God is pushed to the background. This passage teaches us to deliberately remember His goodness. Israel had just experienced one of the greatest miracles of their journey. Yet God knew that with time, they might forget.

That is why He commanded them to set up a reminder. Each stone represented God’s power, faithfulness, and mercy. Every time someone saw those stones, they were reminded that God had made a way had made a way in the past.

In our lives today, “stones” may look different. They may be: A healed sickness, A saved marriage, A breakthrough job, A successful exam, A restored relationship or any difficult season God brought you through. These are testimonies of God’s faithfulness must be remembered, and the testimony should encourage the hearts of those who hear about it. Revelation 12:11 says, “They overcame by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.”

When you remember what God has done, your faith is strengthened. When you share it, others are encouraged.

Faith was not meant to stop with one generation. It is meant to continue. Many young people are growing up without strong spiritual foundations. Some know more about social media trends than about God’s faithfulness.

This Bible study reminds parents, leaders, and believers that it is our responsibility to: Teach children to pray, Show them how to trust God ant to model faith through our lives. Our stories of God’s goodness become seeds of faith in the next generation.

When we forget God’s role in our journey, we begin to depend on ourselves. But when we remember, we stay humble and thankful. First Corinthians chapter 15 verse 10 says, “By the grace of God I am what I am.”

Remembering builds faith. Sharing builds generations. Gratitude preserves blessings.

A believer who remembers God’s faithfulness will never lose hope.

Let us pray:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for all You have done in our lives—seen and unseen. Thank You for every battle You fought for us and every way You made when there seemed to be no way.

Forgive us for the times we forgot Your goodness. Help us to always remember Your faithfulness and to remain grateful in every season.

Lord, help us to pass our testimonies to the next generation. Use our lives to teach our children, families, and communities about Your power and love.

Let our lives become living memorials of Your grace. Strengthen our faith through remembrance, and help us to walk humbly before You.

May we never forget who brought us this far.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
