In Joshua chapter 3 verse 7, God made a powerful promise to Joshua. He said He would begin to exalt him in the eyes of the people so that they would recognize God’s hand upon his life. Joshua had been faithful for many years, serving under Moses quietly. Now, God was about to publicly confirm him as Israel’s leader.

God said, “This day I will begin to exalt you…” This means Joshua’s promotion happened at God’s appointed time. Joshua did not exalt himself. He did not campaign for leadership. God lifted him up. Joshua had waited many years in preparation. He served Moses faithfully, even when no one was praising him. The Bible says in James chapter 4 verse 10: “Humble yourselves… and He will lift you up.”

God exalted Joshua “in the sight of all Israel.” These were the people he was called to lead.

God did not make Joshua famous among enemies. He made him respected among those who mattered for his assignment.

This is important today. Many seek approval from strangers online, workplace, church, and community while neglecting respect in their real responsibilities: the family that God had given them.

God’s goal was: “That they may know that I am with you.”

Joshua’s greatness was not about ego. It was about credibility. God wanted people to trust Joshua’s leadership.

When God exalted Joshua, He also increased his responsibility. Leadership brought pressure, expectations, and accountability. Promotion is not just privilege; it is stewardship. The Bible says in Luke chapter 12 verse 48: “To whom much is given, much will be required.” When God lifts you up at work, in ministry, in business, or in influence. He expects maturity, humility, and service.

Many people today become frustrated when recognition seems delayed. This Bible study reminds us that God’s timing is perfect. He prepares us privately before He presents us publicly. And, when He finally lift us, we should be ready to take these responsibilities with all our might and stay humble, focused and dedicated.

Let us pray:
Heavenly Father,
We thank You because You are the source of true promotion and honor. We acknowledge that every good thing in our lives comes from You.

Help us to remain faithful, humble, and obedient, even when no one is watching. Teach us to trust Your timing and not rush ahead of Your plan.

Lift us in the eyes of those that matter according to Your will. Give us favor, credibility, and wisdom to represent You well.

Remove pride, insecurity, and the desire for empty approval from our hearts. Let our lives bring glory to Your name.

We place our future in Your hands.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
